Only four ingredients, I still manage to mess this bake up every time I attempt it. This time was no different. If anyone has any tips to make flapjacks stick together, I'm all ears.

Seriously, only four ingredients....the process really doesnt take long to mix everything together in a saucepan over a gentle heat, then bung it in a tin for 25 minutes in the oven.

But my flapjacks never ever stick together. Its like a super sweet porriage whenever I make them. Crumbling out of the tin. I usually end up using it as a yoghurt topper because I can't cut them into bars at all.

Flapjacks

175g margarine

100g soft light brown sugar

2 tbsp golden syrup

175g rolled oats

Grease a 11 x 7 inch baking tin. Set the oven to 160C/gas 3. Melt the margarine in a large saucepan. Add the sugar and syrup, and warm gently. Do not boil. Remove from heat and stir in the oats.

Press into the prepared tin, bake for 25minutes or until firm. Cut into fingers whilst still warm and leave in the tin to cool.
